Procedure
for Beginning Class
Find
your assigned seat (posted on the computer room door every Monday)
Get
out all necessary class materials (pencil, highlighter, book, folder—then
you’ll have no need to go in your backpack until after class
Place
backpacks in designated areas.
Put
homework in shelf (if applicable)
Begin
assignment on marker board
BE
READY WHEN THE
Therefore,
it is important to get ready for class while you socialize.
This
way, when the bell rings, you will be ready to work.
(If you have an admit or any make-up work, please put it in the designated
place
by my computer before class starts.)
Turning in Homework
Upon entering the classroom, immediately get out your homework and place it in the appropriate shelf.
Be sure that you have your name, the date, and the page # or assignment purpose in the upper right corner. (See Procedure for heading papers)
No homework will be accepted after I remove the papers from the shelf.
No homework will be accepted if you are working on it after the bell.
Getting Your Attention
At any time during any activity, if you hear me:
Whistle
or say
Faites Attention
("pay attention")
or
Écoutez s'il vous plaît
("listen please")
please stop what you are doing
and quietly look at me.
Merci!
(thanks)

Page #/Assignment
The above is an example of the paper headings that you will use on all papers.
(I will from time to time assign a grade for simply having the proper heading on all your papers. This is an easy A if you will make this a habit.)
Merci!
Tardies
If you come in tardy, quietly put your admit or pass in the basket, take your seat and begin the task the class is on.
(You all know the procedure for beginning class, so you shouldn’t have to ask too many questions about what we’re doing.)
If you have a question, raise your hand and I will help you.
There is not need to disturb someone else.
Please be advised that tardiness will be damaging to your grade, as you will receive a grade for reciting the pledge…in French.
Classroom
Conversation
Please raise your hand if you would like to ask a question or make a comment unless you are responding to a question that I have asked of the class.
Remember that all comments will be of a positive and encouraging nature, and will pertain to the conversation at hand.
Merci!
Procedure
for Taking a Test
During testing, I ask that you stay seated and quiet until the last test has been turned in.
When you have a question or are finished, please raise your hand and I will come to you. This will help to keep everyone focused and will limit any disturbances.
Remember: the first person done does not indicate how well they know the information, only that they are in a hurry.
Always check your work.
Getting
Make-Up Work
Look in the folder for the previous days’ assignments. Be sure to write down the information.
Ask for clarification if you have any questions.
Also, check the folder for any handouts that you may have missed.
Schedule a time to take your test, if one was missed.
See me for sign up sheet.
You MUST sign up before you come in so that I will know to be here.
Remember: You have 5 days to make up any work. I will not ask you for it, so you must be responsible with your time and use a good work ethic. No late assignments are accepted!
If you have been absent, please come to class early so that you will have time to look in the make-up folder BEFORE class. This will help to keep you from feeling so lost when class begins.
Procedure
for Dismissal
Do not close books, folders, etc. until you are instructed to do so.
Please wait for me to say
“Cherchez Vos Affaires”
(Get Your Stuff)
At this time, you may get your things, pack up,
clean around your desk,
and then wait in your seat until the bell rings (if it hasn’t already).
To ask permission to pack up when we are done with class:
Puis-je chercher mes affaires?
(May I get my stuff?)
Pourrions-nous chercher nos affaires?
(May we get our stuff?)
