Course Overview:

This class is designed for the student to develop an understanding of how the United States was settled and how it has grown and changed over time. The class will chart the major events in the history of this nation and how those events have change and molded our culture.

Course Objectives:

  1. To help the student develop an understanding of the founding and colonization of North America.
  2. To help the student develop an understanding of the causes of and the result of the American Revolution, including the development of the U.S. Constitution.
  3. To help the student develop an understanding of the growth of the nation and the effects it had on the cultural development.
  4. To help the student understand the causes and effects of the Civil War.
  5. To help the student understand the major events of Reconstruction and the western expansion.
  6. To help the student develop an understanding of the major events of the twentieth century.

Tardy:

Students who are not in the room at the time the bell rings will be counted as tardy.

Everyday Procedures: Go to your assigned seat

No food or drink (other than water) permitted

Have your book, something to write with (pen or pencil), and paper.

Always have your material

No one is to leave his or her seat without permission

Assessment: An assessment will be given each day. All bell ringers and exit tickets will be graded. In addition, tests and/or major written assignments will be given weekly. This course has an EOCT that will count as the final test.

Additional Requirements:

Each student will be required to keep a notebook of all papers handed back and class notes. This notebook is to be kept neat and will be checked each week at the time of the weekly tests.
