German/Deutsch III

Course Objectives

During this course you are going to use the textbook “Deutsch Aktuell 2”. During level 3 you will complete chapters 2-7. By the end of level 3 you will be able to do the following (in both the formal and informal tenses):

  • Talk about youth hostels and camping facilities in Germany;
  • Use reflexive verbs to talk about daily routines;
  • Use more advanced word order to express your ideas;
  • Discuss trips that you have taken in the past;
  • Use the Narrative Past Tense as well as the Present Perfect Tense (using both regular and irregular verbs) to express events that have taken place in the past;
  • Describe the weather using more advanced terminology;
  • Describe popular vacation destinations in Germany;
  • Identify animals found on a typical farm;
  • Talk about daily activities, including chores;
  • Talk about activities that take place in different rooms of the house;
  • Discuss what it would be like to live in a large city in Germany;
  • Use infinitives as nouns;
  • Talk about the principality of Liechtenstein;
  • Order from a menu;
  • Use the Genitive Case to show possession;
  • Describe eating establishments in Germany;
  • Describe the various objects on a dinner table;
  • Talk about and describe food;
  • Talk about places to go shopping and the specific items you can buy at each location;
  • Talk about your hobbies and interests; and
  • Use adjective endings when connected with definite and indefinite articles.
