German/Deutsch II

Course Objectives

During this course you are going to use two textbooks, “Deutsch Aktuell 1” and “Deutsch Aktuell 2). During level 2 you will complete chapters 8-12 and 1-2. By the end of level 2 you will be able to do the following (in both the formal and informal tenses):

  • Talk about birthday presents, including what you want;
  • Express when your birthday is and how old you will be;
  • Offer and accept gifts;
  • Identify rooms in a house and the furniture that would go in each room;
  • Describe your daily activities;
  • Talk about a movie you have seen or are planning on seeing;
  • Express likes and dislikes on various topics;
  • Describe weekend activities and hobbies;
  • Discuss chores that you must do, or that other family members must do;
  • Use the future tense to talk about things you are going to do;
  • Talk about sports and sports clubs, including the sports Germans enjoy;
  • Identify parts of the body;
  • Talk about traveling using the future and past tense;
  • Ask for and give directions to locations in a city;
  • Describe a trip you have taken in a longer discourse;
  • Use the past tense for both regular and irregular verbs;
  • Describe talents and abilities;
  • Talk about what you did on the weekend;
  • Describe the facilities at an airport;
  • Use adjectives in their comparative and superlative forms;
  • Talk about youth hostels and camping facilities in Germany;
  • Use reflexive verbs to talk about daily routines; and
  • Use more advanced word order to express your ideas.
