 Course Objectives:

French I is designed to introduce basic grammar, reading, writing and speaking skills. This information will be introduced in a variety of methods: reading passages, writing activities, listening to French CDs and music, computer programs, watching DVDs and various speaking activities.

 Text:

Discovering French (If you would like to take notes, doodle, highlight, or do some of your work in your book, you may purchase yours for $50.)

 Materials:

  1. If you choose not to purchase a book, a textbook will be issued for the semester, and you will be responsible for any ripped pages, water damage, or writing/marks of any kind. You must bring your book DAILY to class.
  2. Other daily materials 3-ring binder to be used only for French class (1” suggested)

4 Dividers with pockets labeled as follows:

notes, bell ringers, classwork, homework

Index cards

Highlighters

Pencils and erasers

Classroom Behavior :

  1. Be responsible and respectful!!
  2. 5 bathroom passes per 9 weeks

 Discipline Plan :

Inappropriate actions will accumulate weekly and will result in the following consequences:

name on the board = warning

1 st check by your name = last one to leave (this step may be skipped if there are weekly problems)
2 nd check by your name = 15 minute detention
3 rd check by your name = call home and 30 minute detention

*Your slate will be wiped clean each Monday (unless there are weekly problems).

*All detentions must be served within 5 days or you will be referred to an administrator.

 Grading System :

Nine Weeks Grades: Semester Grade:
20% Homework 42.5% 1 st Nine Weeks
30% Classwork 42.5% 2 nd Nine Weeks
50% Tests/Quizzes 15% Final Exam

 The most damaging grade from each 9 week grading period will be dropped for each student that has no absences or tardies!!
