MAGRUDERS, AMERICAN GOVERNMENT
OBJECTIVE
This course will examine the basic structure of American Government. Each of the three branches will be addressed in-depth. Also, the history and evolution of government in the United States will be studied.
GRADING
This course will be divided into two sections for the purpose of grading. Tests will count 50%. This is any major chapter or unit exam. Daily Work and Quizzes will count 50% as well. This will include any work done on a daily basis or quizzes over reading. Also, there will be a mid-term exam which will count as 20% of the first semester average.
NOTEBOOKS
Each student will keep a notebook this term. All work will be kept in this notebook. It will be graded approximately 3 times per semester and will count as a major grade.
SUPPLIES
Each student will be assigned a text. They will be responsible for bringing that book with them to class each day. Pencil or blue or black ink pens are acceptable for completing assignments. Paper should be white ruled (college or not) only. These supplies should be brought to class each day.
HOMEWORK
Homework is encouraged by the Board of Education and the LaFayette High School Administraton. One or two nights each week, students will be assigned reading to be completed from the text. Quizzes will be administered to check for completion of the assignments. Also, each student will be responsible for writing a summary of a current event article each week. This assignment will be due on every Friday.
