HONORS GEOMETRY SYLLABUS AND POLICIES

PREREQUISITES : Algebra I or Applied Algebra

OBJECTIVE AND TOPICS : Students will use geometry tools and solve problems dealing with Euclidean geometry and applications to everyday life. Topics include: lines, planes, angles, two and three dimensional figures, similarity and congruence, trigonometry, logic, vectors. Because this is an honors course, students will be covering geometric topics in more depth than in regular geometry.

REQUIRED MATERIALS THAT STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE : scientific calculator (Texas Instruments preferred), pencils, graph paper, 3-ring notebook with line paper, protractor, ruler, drawing compass, 9x11 glass picture frame, white t-shirt.

CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK : Must be completed in the time alotted. No late homework is accepted. ISI students assume same responsibilities as in-class students. Grade of zero for unexcused absences. Work must be neat, complete, and in pencil.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT : LHS will not tolerate inappropriate behaviors. Students who choose to be discourteous (gum chewing, eating, sleeping, etc.) or disruptive (socializing, physical horseplay, cell phones, etc). will be written up and parents will be contacted..

ASSISTANCE : Students may visit the instructor during working time in class or after class.

GRADING :

Each quarter : Homework/classwork 25%, Tests 50%, Quizzes/Special assignments 25%

Semester grade : 42.5% for each quarter, and 15% for the Georgia End-of-Course Exam
