Course: Applied Geometry

Course Description:

Focuses on problem solving using available technology within a geometry curriculum. The goal of the course is to provide students with a strong geometry background from a hands-on, problem solving approach. Prerequisite: Applied Algebra.

Chapter 2: Reasoning and Proof
Chapter 3: Parallel Lines and Triangles
Chapter 4: Congruent Triangles
Chapter 5: Polygons & Quadrilaterals
Chapter 6: Similar Triangles
Chapter 7: Coordinate Geometry
Chapter 8: Area
Chapter 9: Circles
Chapter 10: Surface Area and Volume
Chapter 11: Transformation Geometry

Materials needed:

• Scientific Calculator (TI-30X) recommended not required
• Sharpened or mechanical pencils
• Loose-leaf notebook paper and 3-ring binder
• Textbook

Student Expectations:

 Students will:

Be on time to class.

• Be respectful of everyone in the room.
• Use appropriate behavior.
• Make-up work when absent in a timely manner.
• Come prepared to class everyday. (Bring all materials and completed assignments)
• No food, drinks or gum in the classroom.

  Evaluation:

 Grades will be calculated based on the following:

• Tests 50%
• Quizzes/Projects 25%
• Homework/Classwork 25%
• EOCT 15% of final semester grade
