Physical Science
Mr. Buckler
Room 605

Course Description :

Physical science is an introduction into the sciences of Chemistry and Physics. The first half is Chemistry, which deals with the elements (their importance, uses, and interactions). The second half is Physics, which deals with motion, forces, energy, sound, light, electricity, and magnetism. This class is a great class to prepare you for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Plus it is the majority of what you’ll see on the Science Graduation Exam. I will strive to make what we learn as meaningful to your everyday life as possible. I know that you will enjoy this class and learn a lot!

Late Work :

You can turn in homework only one day late. If it is late, it will start off with a 30 point deduction. The exception to this rule is parent-signed homework (ex: syllabus, progress reports); only 10 points a day will be taken off for each day it’s late.

Make-up Work :

The best time to make up missed work is after school- except on Wednesdays. Let me know a day before you plan on coming in.

Detention :

Detentions will involve clean-up duties (usually washing lab equipment). They will last around 30 minutes (after school).

Bathroom Breaks :

If you ask me Before the bell rings to start class, I will let you go as many days as you need without penalty (as long as you are quick). But, after the bell rings, I will allow you only four breaks for the whole semester. After those four are used up, and you have to go during class, you will have to serve a 15 minute detention after school either that day or the next. Of course, if you have a condition that requires you to go more often, please bring a doctor’s note stating your problem.

1. Follow directions (the first time they are given).

2. Be on Time & Prepared.

3. Be Respectful (to students, me, & others’ property).

4. Be Polite & Helpful (be positive in your behavior & attitude).

5. Be Careful, Clean, & Alert in Lab.
