Semester averages will consist of both nine week averages and the End of Course Test. The first nine weeks will count 43%, the second nine weeks will count 42%, and the EOCT will count 15%.

Extra Credit: This is not available. If a student does the work, turns in assignments, and studies for tests and/or quizzes there is no need for extra credit work. If a student chooses not to do the work, then the extra credit is useless. Late assignments may be turned in for 1/2 the original credit, up to 2 days late.

Class Rules and Regulations:
1. Don’t do to anyone else what you wouldn’t want done to you.

2. All LHS rules apply. Water may be brought to school as long as it is in a clear plastic bottle. You will not be allowed to leave class to fill your bottle. Think ahead! No eating, no gum. You may have hard candy. Put the wrappers in the trash can.

3. Be on time. Punctuality is important.

4. Have text, notebook, pencil, and paper every day.

5. My desk has my stuff, you have your stuff. You don’t use my stuff, I don’t use your stuff.

6. Please leave the desks, floors, walls, any property that is not yours, undefaced.

7. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

8. No personal grooming in class.

9. Keep book bag under your desk.

10. You are tardy if the tardy bell rings and you are not in your seat.

11. You may use the restroom during class at my discretion. Those who abuse the privilege of leaving class to go to the restroom will be required to make up time after school.

12. Do your work well. Hastily done, poor, or shoddy work will not be acceptable in your life in the workplace.

13. Pick up all your trash before you leave the room. You will be dismissed by me, not the bell. If you have not picked up, you will not leave. I do not write late passes.

Consequences:

1. You and me privately.
2. You and me and your parent/guardian.
3. Extra work.
4. A written plan of how you identify and plan to correct the problem.
5. Detention. 15/30/45/60 minutes before or after school.
6. At any time in this process a trip to the office may occur.

Daily Procedures:

1. Be in your seat with all the necessary materials when the bell rings.
2. Listen to instructions when they are given.
3. Place homework in designated space prior to the tardy bell.
4. Actively participate in class discussions. Volunteer answers.

All work requirements:

1. Write in blue or black ink or pencil. Yes, you can do your homework on the computer.
2. All work must be kept in a notebook. Date everything and keep it in order.
3. At the top of each assignment write your first and last name, the page number, chapter, chapter section, and the date.
4. If you are absent it is your responsibility to bring the admit to me and get copies of the homework, if necessary. You have 1 day plus days absent to make up the work. It is not my job to track you down and give you the assignment. The assignment can be found on the yellow calendar. Check!
5. Your notebook should be a 1 1/2” or 2” binder. You will also need 6 tab dividers, one each for bell ringers, homework, class work, quizzes, geography, and tests. You may use wide or college ruled paper.
6. You must use the table of contents in the front of your notebook. The table of contents should also have grades listed on it.
7. The notebook will be taken up and graded randomly.

This syllabus must be read by you and your parent/guardian and kept in your notebook. This page must be signed and dated by you and your parent/guardian. The signatures mean you have read the previous 3 pages of the syllabus. I will keep this page on file. In signing this page I am acknowledging that I have read and understand the three previous pages of the syllabus. I read about how grades are computed, understand that the student is responsible for doing work, studying for tests, and keeping up if absent. I realize there is no extra credit if the student does not do the assigned work in US History. I understand that the student is responsible for obeying classroom and school rules.
