Foundations of Public Safety and Criminal Justice
Prerequisites: None
Introduces students to agencies/professions in law enforcement, private security, corrections, fire, and emergency management services. Topics: role and structure of the government, rights/responsibilities of citizens in a democratic society, components of the criminal justice systems, adult and juvenile justice systems, civil and criminal law, private security and protective services, fire service, and emergency.

Introduction to Law Enforcement
Prerequisite: Foundations of Public and Patrol Operations Safety and Criminal Justice
An overview of history/evolution of law enforcement in America, law enforcement terminology, law enforcement agencies, classification/elements of crimes, major criminal/ traffic laws of Georgia, crime prevention and detection strategies, communicating with diverse groups, conflict resolution, the use of force continuum, report writing, operation of police/emergency equipment, and courtroom testimony.

Constitutional and Criminal Law
Prerequisites: Foundations and Introduction
Structure of the government and the court system and introduces students to the American legal system and basic legal concepts, difference between civil law/criminal law, criminal justice system, rights of citizens guaranteed by the United States and Georgia constitutions as well as the powers granted to the police and the restrictions placed upon them by the respective constitutions and their amendments.

Criminal Investigation and Forensics
Prerequisites: Foundations, Introduction, Constitutional/Criminal Law
Provides basic understanding of investigative theory,criminological theory, crime scene preservation, and methods of identifying, collecting,preserving, and processing evidence.
