Basic Agriculture Science and Technology
Prerequisite: None
Introduces major areas of scientific agricultural production/research; presents problem solving lessons and introductory skills/knowledge in agricultural science and related technologies. Classroom and laboratory activities supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs/activities.
General Horticulture
Prerequisite: Basic Agriculture Science and Technology
Methods to produce, process, market plants, shrubs, and trees used for ornamental, recreational, and aesthetic purposes and to establish, maintain, manage horticultural enterprises. Classroom/laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs/activities.
Floriculture Production and Management
Prerequisite: Basic Agriculture Science
Provides methods to produce, culture, and market potted flowering plants, cut flowers, foliage plants, bedding plants, and other (generally non-woody) plants for ornamental purposes; covers business procedures, culturing practices, and mechanics used in floriculture. classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities.
Agricultural Animal Production and Management
Prerequisite: Basic Agriculture Science
Instruction in establishing/managing agricultural animal enterprises; includes selecting, breeding, feeding, caring for, marketing beef/dairy cattle, horses, swine, sheep, poultry, specialty animals. Classroom/laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs/activities.
Natural Resources Management/Environmental Science
Prerequisite: Basic Agriculture Science
Conservation management, maintenance of natural resources, good stewardship of air, soil, water, land, fish, and wildlife resources for economic, recreation and health purposes. Classroom/laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs/activities.
Landscape Design and Management
Prerequisite: Basic Agriculture Science
Principles of design, methods of establishing/maintaining landscapes, and landscape business management procedures. Includes arranging plants, objects, and earth in the landscape; culture and maintenance of plants. Classroom/laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs/activities.
Advance Landscape Design
Prerequisite: Landscape Design and Management
Provides students with opportunity to develop advanced skills in landscape design and applications. Prepares students in advanced design, drawing and installation techniques emphasizing computer-aided design and new technology. In-depth business management procedures, labor management, sales techniques, and advanced landscape construction. Allows further skill development in care and culture of landscape plantings.
